Progression and Career Pathways
At Novus, we understand that employment is crucial for rehabilitation and preventing re-offending.
We equip learners with the confidence, skills, and opportunities needed to secure employment, kickstart their careers, and move towards a positive future.
Expert guidance and local labour market insights
Our team comprises experts who use local labour market insights and understand the expectations of both local and national employers.
This expertise allows us to support learners in making informed career choices that align with their aspirations.
Personalised Learning Plans (PLPs)
We work collaboratively with learners to tailor their learning and practical activities towards acquiring the necessary skills and experience for their chosen career.
Our Personal Learning Plans (PLPs) encompass educational qualifications, technical skills, and essential soft skills sought after by employers, boosting their employability beyond qualifications and facilitating professional growth.
Comprehensive employment support services
The dedicated Novus team provides comprehensive support to help learners develop effective job-seeking strategies.
This includes CV preparation, job search techniques, application guidance, advice on disclosure issues, and interview preparation to boost their chances of securing employment.
These services are integrated into our curriculum and are also available as additional support.
Pathways to employment post-release
Through Novus Works and our partnerships with socially responsible employers, our learners gain access to local and regional employment pathways, apprenticeships, and training opportunities upon release.
These partnerships are designed to provide real job prospects, enabling learners to apply their newly acquired skills and qualifications in the workforce.
By facilitating connections with employers who value social responsibility, we ensure that our learners receive the support and opportunities they need to succeed.
This approach promotes a seamless transition into the workforce, helping them to build sustainable careers and contribute positively to society.
Rehabilitation through employment
Employment initiatives play a big part in reducing re-offending rates by providing stability and a sense of purpose.
At Novus, our provisions are designed to equip learners with valuable skills and qualifications, making them more employable and less likely to revert to criminal behaviour.
By fostering connections with employers and creating real job opportunities, we help learners build sustainable careers. This not only aids in their personal rehabilitation but also contributes to safer communities by lowering the likelihood of re-offending.
Second chance for Steven pays off
An employer recruitment event hosted by Novus at HMP Northumberland in 2019 saw Hatton Traffic Management recruit their first ex-offender. Since joining Hatton, Steven has been fully supported with his training and development by the company. He has now been in a full time role as a Traffic Management Operative for over 18 months and is looking forward to a positive future.
