Novus to attend Manchester Pride celebrations
Adult Provision
Novus colleagues and learners will be taking part in this year’s Manchester Pride celebrations, which take place from Friday 24 to Monday 27 August, in conjunction with HMPPS.
Manchester Pride is a celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender life, and its four day event every August promotes tolerance and acceptance, and also raises funds for LGBT+ projects.
HMPPS have an allocated part in the walking parade and will use this opportunity to showcase Novus, highlight its learner education programme, and display the learners’ work to thousands of visitors and spectators on the day.
A total of 10 establishments across the North West are taking part – HMP Manchester, HMP Preston, HMP/YOIThorn Cross, HMP Altcourse, HMP Liverpool, HMP Buckley Hall, HMP Risley, HMP Garth, HMP Wymott, and HMPYOI Hindley – and this year the theme for the event is 'Circus of Acceptance'.
Establishments have been creating pieces inspired by the theme, including placards which will be carried during the parade. In addition, learners from HMP/YOI Thorn Cross and HMP Altcourse have created costume accessories to co-ordinate the Novus look.
