Learner Success Story at HMP High Down
Adult Provision
A learner at HMP High Down has successfully completed the award in Education and Training Level 3 qualification (AET), making him the first to complete the course there.
A year ago, the learner took several courses within the education department including those delivered by Novus, Elite project services and HMPPS: Railtrack, first aid, manual handling and fire safety.
After discussions with staff, the learner shared his dream of starting his own training company. However, he needed to achieve the award in Education and Training Level 3 qualification, which was not offered at HMP High Down at the time.
With the learner's determination and commitment, the site agreed that the Novus education department could deliver the Level 3 AET course from April 2023. Working collaboratively with Community support training Ltd, Novus were able to deliver the course and enrol the learner, supporting him through to successful completion.
With the support of a team of dedicated professionals, including Novus education department, Community support training Ltd, HMPPS learning and skills manager and Elite project services, the learner has achieved an outstanding feat that has changed his life forever.
Finding new and exciting opportunities through collaboration
Currently, the learner has been working with Community support training Ltd to complete his assessor's qualification and is currently employed by them. They are also continuing to mentor and support him in setting up his own training centre.
This is a testament to his unwavering commitment and dedication to his vision and we are confident that he will achieve amazing things.
Providing learners with new and exciting opportunities allows them to reach their full potential and find a career path that they will thrive in. The learner at HMP High Downs' story is a testament to the transformative power of education and how with the right support, our learners can achieve anything.
