Wellbeing Hub at HMP Berwyn set to assist learners into employment
Partner
HMP Berwyn wellbeing HUB helps Novus Cambria Learners to gain crucial employment skills.
Novus Cambria are transforming the entire Workshop 9 space at HMP Berwyn into an enriching Wellbeing Hub for Staff and Prisoners, whilst giving learners the opportunity to learn key employment skills, crucial for finding work on release.
Industry standard hospitality training
Part of the space will contain a complete industry standard restaurant and we are working with Celebrity Maître de, Fred Sirieix and his charity The Right Course to create this. The space will also feature a fully functional barber’s shop.
There will also be plenty of space within the hub for the Health care SMS team and Safer Custody to have 1-2-1s with prisoners, helping to break down barriers. It will also allow the expansion of Novus Cambria resources for vocational training and construction provision, generating new qualifications and building new skills sets for learners to leave Berwyn with even wider scope for employment upon release.

The project will be completed early 2023, but in the mean time, if you want to hear more about how we have worked with Fred Sirieix and The Right Course on hospitality industry qualifications in other establishments, why not take a listen to episode 2 of our Inside Learning: Talking Prison Education podcast.
