GCSE success for young learners
Youth Provision
Children in our Young Offender Institutions – HMYOI Cookham Wood, HMYOI Wetherby and HMYOI Werrington - celebrated achieving their GCSE results at the end of last week.
In English Language, 60% of learners achieved a strong high grade (9-4, the equivalent of A*-C), whilst in maths 50% of learners achieved a strong high grade.
The Novus teams hosted celebration events for the children to acknowledge their hard work and determination in a year that had provided great challenges.
At HMYOI Wetherby this was a double celebration, as one of the children achieved their A Level maths.
Peter Cox, Novus Managing Director, said: “Grade 4 GCSE English and maths are essential requirements for many careers, so I am delighted that so many of our learners have achieved the grades that will help them to build a positive future.
“Many of our children come to us with limited education and it is testament to their perseverance and the dedication of our colleagues that we are able to see such great results.”
