Using Thrive Learning to enhance digital skills at HMP Stoke Heath

Supporting colleagues with their professional development is crucial in ensuring that all colleagues are equipped, with the relevant and up to date skills and knowledge to educate learners.
Recently, the LTE Group has introduced the new Thrive Learning Portal which offers colleagues a wide range of CPD and support to enhance their personal and professional development. Since the introduction of Thrive, colleagues at HMP Stoke Heath have been utilising the CPD to enhance their digital skills.
What is Thrive Learning?
Thrive Learning is the new learning platform introduced to all LTE Group colleagues including Novus. The platform is designed for colleagues to take charge of their own learning giving them the freedom to select modules that will support both their personal and professional development as well as completing mandatory training assigned to them.
From supporting health and wellbeing to management training, there are thousands of modules that colleagues are able to explore and take part in.
Using Thrive to enhance digital skills
Following the introduction of the Thrive Learning portal, colleagues from HMP Stoke Heath have been utilising the platform to enhance their digital skills.
Through the portal, managers have found it easier to assign digital learning to multiple colleagues at once so that they can all take part in the digital training available.
For a new colleague at HMP Stoke Heath recently, the Hub Manager Ellie was able to assign them the Open Borders training, so that the colleague could begin to incorporate Open Borders within their teaching to show learners video clips via YouTube.
The Hub Manager has also assigned the Novus: Artificial Intelligence to support teaching and learning, to specific colleagues. As a result of completing the training via Thrive, one colleague has signed up for a free TeacherMatic account and has so far used it to create quizzes to support their teaching delivery on two occasions. One of the quizzes focused on internet safety and security and has been particularly successfuly, with positive feedback on the content received from learners. The tutor is now planning to make an application via the Hub for a premium TeacherMatic account.
Tutors at HMP Stoke Heath have commented positively on their experiences with Thrive and the digital CPD available to them to help support with their professional development.
Through the support and CPD available on Thrive Learning, tutors are able to take part in the relevant digital training in order to develop their confidence and skills, which they can then incorporate in their teaching provision to support learners with their digital learning.
