To celebrate UK Employability Day 2017, Novus is hosting a series of events across the country with employer partners, to highlight the importance of equipping our learners with the employability skills they need to find work when they leave prison.
Novus currently provides education, training and employment opportunities to adults and young people in establishments in the North East, Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, the North West, Kent and Sussex, and London, and events have been organised in each region for Friday 14 July, UK Employability Day.
Organised by the Employment Related Services Association (ERSA), Employability Day provides the employment support sector with the opportunity to show what employment support is and its importance in helping people move towards, or into, employment, and the impact nationally, regionally and in the local area.
Chris Horton, Director of Operations for Novus, said: “We are delighted to be part of Employability Day. We firmly believe in the importance of providing our learners with the right employability skills, in order to give them the best opportunity to gain employment on release from prison, which in turn helps to tackle re-offending rates.
“The passion and commitment of our colleagues and partners helps us to support our learners in acquiring the skills they need to move into work and ultimately help them to transform their lives, and I’d like to thank all our partners for supporting our events across the regions.”
